Intro
Marriott operates dozens of distinct brands, each with its own identity, audience, and hiring needs. While each brand has a unique story to tell, candidates still need a clear, consistent experience as they move through the site.
Designing for dozens of brands means balancing expression with coherence. The system needed to scale brand diversity without fragmenting the candidate experience.
Design Challenge
How do you design one system that works for 30+ brands, preserves brand expression, and still feels like a single, coherent hiring experience?
Designing for Simplification
The design intentionally removed content and hierarchy complexity, creating space for a clearer, more guided experience.
Rather than forcing information onto the page, contextual assistance was able to support candidates dynamically, keeping the interface focused and approachable.
Brand-Flexible Framework
Design decisions prioritized reuse, maintainability, and long-term scalability over one-off solutions. The system was built to support ongoing change without requiring redesign at every touchpoint.
A shared visual system allowed individual brands to express themselves while remaining clearly connected to the broader Marriott experience. Structure and interaction patterns stayed consistent, while brand expression shifted.
Consistent System,
Clear User Path
The system balanced brand goals with a consistent user experience.
Even as brand expression changed, navigation and interaction patterns stayed familiar. Design decisions consistently prioritized candidate clarity over brand-by-brand customization.
Outcome
The final design delivered a single, adaptable career site that supported global hiring needs while preserving brand expression.

The system balanced flexibility and consistency, allowing Marriott’s brands to tell their stories without compromising usability.
Impact:

- Simplified multi-brand experience for candidates

- Reduced visual and content fragmentation at scale

- Brand expression without sacrificing candidate clarity
